2008-2009 Holidays Mini ProjectsI spent a lot of my holiday periods getting familiar with different styles of development environments such as facebook’s markup language (FBML), creating small plugins for wordpress and getting a better understanding object orientated programming in PHP

My most notable achievement was a facebook app that would inform you when someone had removed you from their friends list.

I stopped working on this due to college restarting and the strain on the web server was too much as the app became more popular, I closed the app at 9,400 active users in just under a month as it was ethically against facebook’s app policy.

Voluntary work

2007 Teaching Young People ITI taught young teenagers who had just entered the country basic computer applications, in order for them to be able to integrate into our modern society. This was a rewarding experience as I was able to help reinforce the importance of a good education and also the significance of developments in technology. An aspect of my role is to provide feedback on the progress of my students and monitor them closely to ensure that there is constant growth in their learning.

Extra curricular activities

Student Associate scheme, secondary ict teacher, june 2010-july 2010

Being chosen for this placement enabled me to, inspire, motivate, and encourage students; furthermore I felt like I was making a difference in supporting and guiding future leaders. In teaching there was no such thing as a routine day there was always new and exciting topics coming up and as it includes working with children they can be quite unpredictable. I enjoyed the experience of teaching ICT to younger students and find it fascinating when a student who has difficulty understanding basic concepts gradually begins to comprehend them through patient explanations. I feel that teachers mould the future every day in classrooms and I was proud to be a part of that.
